Brief information

Dr. Sandeep Vasant Gaikwad working as a Assistant Professor at Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune.

He has completed the Ph.D. degree (Computer Science) under the mentorship of a Senior Professor. K. V. Kale at Geospatial Technology Research Laboratory, Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, MS-India: 431004. His  Ph.D. thesis title is Design and Development of Drought Assessment System using Geospatial Technology” . He has completed his  research internship at Space Application Center (SAC)- Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Ahmedabad, Gujrat, India.

He received M. Phil and M. Sc. in Computer Science from the same university. He was awarded by Basic Science Research (BSR) Fellowship in 2014-2019.

His research topic is the He has authored and co-authored over  35 publications , including Scopus (19), SCI (3), SCIE(1), and Web of Science (4) indexed journals and conferences. Additionally, a total of 5 papers was published in a UGC-Care list, including the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) rating of 4.21 impact factor. He has also published 4 patents in Indian Patent Office and 1 International German Patent.

He is a member of IEEE-GRSS, ISPRS, IAEng, CSTA, IACSIT, and ISCA.

He has designed and developed many research products like a Drought assessment system, Soil probe, IoT Kit for Soil moisture analysis, Agro-meteorological Kit, Web-based GCP tool, and Ground truth collection system. He has more than 4.5 years of experience in research, innovation, and teaching at the PG level. He has attended 25 professional training workshops,05 orientation programs, 09 International and 04 National conferences to the present date.

He has received 6 awards and honors from various research competitions, including best research paper awards in the 2nd International Conference on Cognitive Knowledge Engineering (ICKE-2016)”, hosted by the Department of CS & IT Dr. B.A.M. University Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India, during December 21st-23rd, 2016. In addition, he has bagged second prize two times in the Avishkar- Inter-University State Level Research Festival under the category of Engineering and Technology. Furthermore, he was awarded the BSR (Basic Science Research) Fellowship under “SAP (Special Assistance Program)” by the University of Grants Commission, New Delhi, duration from August 2014-August 2019.

He has received a Ph.D. Internship Letter of Acceptance from the Yale University, Texas University, Austin USA, and University of Alberta, Canada. Furthermore, He has joined ISRO Ph.D. Research Internship program. His research domains are IoT, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Satellite image processing, GIS, Drought Monitoring, and Assessment. Moreover, I am a freelancer software and web application developer.
